ABOUT MALISA
My counseling career has focused on helping adults improve their ability to regulate emotions. We carry the emotional wounds of our past stories, which sometimes interfere in today’s joy. My collaborative approach involves identifying what is creating a challenge for you, and implementing effective strategies to improve coping and reduce negative emotions.
My passion is working with new parents, or those having experienced trauma with regard to family dysfunction, pregnancy, birth, children with medical concerns, and grief.
My Approach
I have practiced within a trauma-informed lens for the duration of my career. My training and practice in Dialectical Behavior Therapy leads my counseling approach. This includes a mindfulness, skills-based, non-judgmental focus.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Wisconsin. My master’s degree was earned at Marquette University. I have worked in community mental health since 2004 in a variety of capacities.
My credentials & experience
My husband and children enjoy outdoor adventures, ongoing home projects, reading and watching kids’ movies! Our journeys include parent loss, child loss and traumatic medical / health experiences.
